This is a fabulous appetizer recipe that I got from one of my friends in California. I will absolutely use this recipe many many times. It is GREAT!
1 1/2 cups / 12 oz Gruyere Cheese shredded
8 oz Cream Cheese
9 Cloves of Roasted Garlic
2 TB Green Onions minced
1/2 cup Real Mayonnaise
Tabasco to taste - about 3 or 4 shakes
salt and pepper to taste
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-Cut Baguettes into 1/2 inch thick slices
-Butter baguette slices on both sides and place on cookie sheets.
-Pop them in the oven for about 8 minutes or so until the tops are not wet any more but rather a little crusty.
-Remove from oven and set aside to cool to room temp.
-Roast 9 large cloves of garlic in a pan on med heat for about 10 minutes or so until roasted.
-Smash the garlic with a fork till it is a mush...put in a large bowl.
-Now in the bowl, add all ingredients on list besides the bread and butter (which have already been used)
-Mix until well blended
-By this time, the baguette slices should be cooled to room temp.
-Spoon the mixture on top of each baguette slice about 1/2 inch or so thick. Pat down a little so it is evenly distributed.
-Put all the cheese topped baguette slices on a cookie sheet and pop back in oven for about 15-20 minutes. Check after 15 minutes.
-Take them out of the oven when the cheese browns a little on top.
-Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes to allow the cheese to set and cool to eating temp.
Enjoy!! These are Fabulous!
